Confederation of India Industry (CII), largest association of Indian Industry has been holding the Design Summit for the past 15 years with India's premier and one of the world's best National Institute of Design.

Design is extremely important to the future of India. Design is a powerful integrator contributing to our culture, environment and economy at the same time in a balanced manner. Beyond aesthetics design transcends as an expression of a people's values and aspirations.

India has a vibrant design industry and an ever increasing number of design users backed by a strong platform of design education. Indian designers are an eclectic mix of talent, insight and experience. Design in India has matured over the years and continues to grow from strength to strength.

CII firmly believes that Design is the key for India to succeed in a constantly changing, globally competitive world. CII believes that through design we would be able to create a better future for everyone as design is the only practice that makes commercial, ecological and social sense at the same time. Through organizing this summit the organizers aim to convey different meanings, applications, developments of design and to imbibe design in every walk of human life.

CII has been performing the role as India's strategic body for design. It has strenuously and diligently worked to strengthen and support the economy and society by demonstrating and promoting the vital role of design in making businesses more competitive and public services more effective.

National Institute of Design (NID)www.nid.edu

NID, Ahmedabad is an internationally acclaimed multi-disciplinary design institute. The institute offers world-class professional education in various design domains through Under-Graduate and Post-graduate Diploma Programmes. NID is playing a key role in both design education and design promotion to create a congenial environment in the country so that there is an innovation driven value change catalyzing India's socio-economic development.

Realizing the increasing importance of design in economic, industrial and societal development and in improving quality of products and services, the Government of India had announced the National Design Policy to have a design enabled Indian industry which could impact both the national economy and the quality of life in a positive manner. In pursuance of the National Design Policy announced by the Government of India on 8th January, 2007, the Central Government has constituted the India Design Council on 2nd March 2009. The council is presided over by Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman and managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Prof. Pradyumna Vyas, Director of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad is the member secretary. The council is formed by 22 eminent people from the field of design, academia, industry organizations and academia. The council has 06 invitee members.

The India Design Council acts as the national strategic body for multi-disciplinary design and is involved in promotion of design to ultimately make Indian Industry a design enabled industry. The 15'th CII NID Design Summit is endorsed by the India Design Council.
